GÜNSELİ TÜRKAY’S “MEDITERRANEAN WILD FLOWERS PROJECT” IS THE SEMI-FINALIST IN MARSELE!

Günseli Türkay’s project “Mediterranean Wildflowers Project” has been selected as a semi-finalist for the 2022-23 “Maison Mode Méditerranée Endowment Fund” in Marseille.

“Mediterranean Wildflowers Project” reflects and celebrates the fascinating beauty, sensuality and intelligence of endemic Mediterranean plants into textiles, fashion and objects with craft techniques. The project and its outcome will seek to raise awareness, create an environmental production process to support artisan communities from Mediterranean countries. The project aims to preserve the intangible heritage and fragility of the Mediterranean in a responsible and artisanal manner.

Fashion designer Günseli Türkay and cinematographer Burak Aydın photographed together the wild flowers of the Mediterranean region, which has a very special location with its biodiversity, for their project titled “Wild Flowers of the Mediterranean”.

Günseli Türkay started to create collections with ecological fabric selections and experimental printing techniques by transforming flower photographs into patterns with traditional printing and embroidery techniques.

“Wild Flowers of the Mediterranean” was selected from among 120 applications and 85 different brands within the scope of the “Maison Mode Méditerranée Endowment Fund” organized in Marseille and made it to the semi-finals. The first selections were made by the jury in France. The second stage will be determined by Facebook votes.
