India was at the top of the list of countries that spend the most time reading books in the world. On average, every citizen in India reads for 10 hours and 42 minutes per week. While 6 of the top 10 countries that spend the most time to read books are in Asia, 4 countries entered the ranking from Europe. Thailand ranked second on the list with 9 hours and 24 minutes per week, while China ranked third with 8 hours per week.
“Turkey ranks 18th”
The book reading index is based on the amount of time individuals spend reading on a weekly basis. In addition to printed books, all kinds of readable materials, including newspapers, magazines and online content, are included in the scope of research and scoring.
The other top 10 countries are Philippines (7 hours 36 minutes), Egypt (7 hours 30 minutes), Czechia (7 hours 24 minutes), Sweden (7 hours 6 minutes), France (6 hours) 54 minutes), Hungary (6 hours 48 minutes) and Saudi Arabia (6 hours 48 minutes). Turkey, on the other hand, ranks 18th on the list with the time it spares for reading.
