UNESCO announced that 53 cultural heritage sites in Ukraine, which have been under Russian attack for some time, have been damaged.
While the tension between Russia and Ukraine has been going on for a while, Ukraine has great damage both materially and morally. UNESCO said in a statement that 53 cultural sites in Ukraine were severely damaged.
Emphasizing that 53 cultural sites, including historical buildings and monuments, were damaged during the attack, UNESCO revealed the traces of the destruction using satellite images . According to the agreement signed between Russia and Ukraine in 1954, important areas for the protection of cultural assets were designated as the ‘blue shield’. Determining that this was not followed, UNESCO informed Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov about the damaged cultural areas in Ukraine.
