Festival, in its official statement, “Peter Weir and Andrew Niccol’s The Truman Show is a modern reflection of Plato’s cave, which prompts audiences not only to experience the boundary between reality and its representation, but also to contemplate the power of fiction between manipulation and catharsis.”
THE TRUMAN SHOW SUBJECT?
The Truman Show, which was released in 1998, presents a story in which the life of Truman Burbank, played by Jim Carrey, is a reality TV series. Master actors such as Ed Harris and Laura Linney take part in the movie, which is about the fun and sad life of Truman, who does not know that his life is watched by the whole world.
The film was nominated for Oscars for Best Director, Best Supporting Actor and Best Screenplay.
